Kumoricon 2012.

3 min read
Kumoricon at its 3rd time in Vancouver, Washington went pretty well. It's going to be there next year as well. I have to say The Hilton & The Red Lion Hotels handle Kumoricon best compared to the other venues. The staff is certainly more friendly.
I would have enjoyed this year more, had I not been in pain during the rave Saturday night 9/1/12.

I had to sit down on the floor in the back of the ball-room and just watch. Eventually my cousin and I just left and went back to the hotel room to shower and chill until bedtime. I was also running on about 11 hours of sleep and I don't mean from one night. Thursday night I only slept about 6 hours and got up at 5:30am that Friday, 8/31/12 to get ready. When doing my make-up for The Count, I prefer to take my time in case I have any setbacks. We arrived at The Red Lion at about close to 1pm. Luckily there was no line at the Pre-Registration Check-In. That was the first I'd seen that. Usually there's a long line. I had decided to bring my platform boots that I had gotten and couldn't walk in them for too long because of the snug-fit around the foot which was scraping skin off the top of the foot and those areas are still healing. I loved the boots because of the fact they made me about 5 feet 11 inches in height. I'm going to have to find something to pad the top of my feet better than what I used.

As usual, a lot of walking. I took about $900 in cash, spending nearly $200 at Payless Shoes for different pair of boots I could wear and bought 3 new white dress shirts at Target with the stiff collars for The Count outfit.

To sum it up, I had a great time, despite the pain, blisters and lack of sleep, which is what I've grown accustomed to during Kumoricon, which is why when I get home I go to bed. And it usually takes me a full week to recoop from Kumoricon. I only sleep about 5-6 hours a night during Kumoricon and thus, I'm ragged and ready to go home on day 3.

Now I am preparing a brand new staff for The Count outfit. This one is actually a flag pole made of wood, which I got at a craft store. The ball on it is the perfect shape. I even found a crown to put on the top of it. I will post pictures when it's complete.

Kumoricon 2012:

It's been nearly a year since I have updated this thing.
I decided I would reprise my Count of Monte Cristo cosplay this year. I haven't worn it since 2008.
I had wanted to do other cosplays like Kuroshitsuji's Sebastian, Vocaloid's Gakupo and Trinity Blood's Isaak & Abel, all of which spanned Kumoricon 2009-2011. I had fun doing those cosplays but honestly not as much fun as The Count. The cosplay itself is 'loud' and attention drawing, which I like. I feel like a celebrity when I wear it. I get stopped quite a bit to have my photos taken and I enjoy that, too.

As for recent news:

After nearly 12 years with Fred Meyer I was unfairly let-go from the Hillsboro store, which I transferred to back in late September 2011. I was unemployed from late November 2011 to March 2012 and then began working from April 16th to June 30th for Creative Channel Services. The issue there was they were never able to get approval with PDX for us to engage customers. So for 4 months we were just watching the movie kiosks and getting paid $15 an hour. I knew eventually CCS wouldn't want to pay us to do that so my Regional Manager had to pull the plug on hours completely, rendering me and the other two ambassadors as laid off until further notice. Fortunately I am still employed with CCS. So June 30th was the last day I worked. I then restarted my claim for Unemployment and used the rest of that up and am now on the EUC benefits (Emergency Unemployment) and seeking work elsewhere.

I also had lapband surgery on July 11th. I lost 7 pounds in a week during my pre-operative diet.
Since surgery as of July 25th I have lost a total of 16 pounds. I am hoping to be at least 40-50 pounds lighter by Kumoricon.

I'm also engaged and going to be married on Halloween. :)

Kumoricon 2011

As usual I had a great time. Better than last year. Even better I had an awesome time at the second rave. There were two girls there who were totally dressed like sluts and got on stage a few times. They stuck out like sore thumbs. It was an ANIME CONVENTION RAVE, not a RAVE where people are dressed like whores, ladies. Ugh. Anyway. I was on the stage a few times dancing with 3 other people and using the light up disco stick for a microphone and lip syncing to certain songs like "SEXY BITCH", "WHAT IS LOVE?" & "BLUE" and had one cute girl dancing with me in a flirty manner and even holding my hips at one point. I also turned my Gakupo headphones on. Those things were well worth $50.

Now on another note. I REALLY wish I had not stayed in the room I was in. The 'friends' of the now former friend apparently did not feel comfortable around me and were thinking I was along for a free ride. Hello. I was invited. I didn't hear about the other two helping to pay for the room. Only buying food which I did not eat.
I also hated sleeping over at the former friend's apartment on Thursday night. It was THE filthiest place I'd ever been in. I didn't say anything because I didn't wanna be rude. But since the former friend was saying that crap about her friends not liking me, I decided to bring it up while talking to her on Facebook earlier today. I stated I was not attempting to go along for a 'free ride'. I'd even asked her way before con when she invited me to stay in the room if they needed me to help pay. She said no. She took offense to me telling her I was not comfortable staying at her apartment. This is what I saw there and YOU tell me if this sounds like a clean apartment, as she stated it was.

1: Too many animals. They have guinea pigs, fish, birds, turtles, cats.
2: Loose tobacco for rolling your own cigs was all over a table by the sliding glass door and all over the floor beneath it.
3: The bathroom was an eye-sore. Empty maxi pad wrappers all over. The floor was filthy. Empty packaging for razors all over too.
4: LOTS of flies and ants and filthy floors and carpeting.

She stated to me that her apartment is clean and spat that my room is a 'mess'. My room is small and I have a lot of stuff. I don't have garbage all over, flies and ants and dirty floors and carpet, etc. Naturally if you're raised in filth you're going to say that's CLEAN.

Also in the hotel room on Sunday night I was back close to 2am and showered. I'd lied down to TRY and sleep. What did I hear? Someone giggling constantly and the talking. They went outside of the room a few times and would come back in. I then heard someone letting off VERY loud, long farts. I know it was the former friend's mother. She's disgustingly obese and gross. I was surprised they did not smell. I was not dreaming it. >_>;

So I blocked her after that conversation on Facebook. I regret not staying in Doe's room, which I WILL be doing next year. I don't need or want drama. Also I knew something was up because her mother and two friends and even herself, were stand-offish and not speaking to me on day two. I'm good at picking up on things. But ofcourse none of them had the balls to talk to me about how they felt. So you know what? FUCK THEM ALL! ^_^
I was glad to leave that room Monday morning and go with my friend Trina to drop my luggage off in Doe's room until she and I left on C-tran into Portland and caught MAX.

Other than that crap I had a lot of fun at Kumoricon. I loved cosplaying Kamui Gakupo. The samurai outfit was just very hot. >< I'd seen a couple others but none of them looked as cool as I did. I put a lot of details into my cosplay. I don't just throw on a wig and clothes and say "Here I am."

I'm going to be Kamui Gakupo of VOCALOID on Pre-Reg day and day 1, 2 and 3 since I have two outfits for my Gakupo cosplay.
Not cosplaying Sebastian Michaelis or Abel Nightroad this year.

I'm very excited to be doing my first VOCALOID Cosplay this year.

:D
